The world’s shortest person Khagendra Thapa Magar had a heavy burden placed on his tiny shoulders on Friday. Nepal’s tourism board hopes the 22 inch small 17-year-old will help the country attract one million tourists when it celebrates Nepal Tourism Year next year. The ever smiling Little

Buddha was named brand ambassador for the ambitious task at a function held here. Nepal plans to double its number of foreign tourists from 500,000 to a million in 2011.
As cameras flashed the boy from a remote village in Baglung district, 160 kms west of Kathmandu flexed his muscles to show that he is ready for the task.

“We will be taking him to important destinations across the world with the aim of luring tourists,” said Prachanda Man Shrestha, CEO, Nepal Tourism Board.

As part of its international promotion campaign, Khagendra will fly to Tokyo later this month to urge tourists to visit Nepal in his barely audible voice. He is also expected to visit London, Paris and Singapore.

“Tourists will be told that both the world’s highest mountain—Mount Everest and the world’s shortest person will be ready to welcome them when they visit Nepal,” said Shrestha.

He added that Khagendra’s presence in most of the functions organized as part of the tourism calendar would depend on his physical abilities.

Author: Yoga Glow

People who practice yoga regularly have a certain glow about them. They're healthy, happy, and just have a special way about them that infects everything and everyone around them for the better. This is the glow of yoga that we all strive for. To achieve the yoga glow-like zen, we have to start somewhere. Here are a few tips and products to help you start out small, and end up happy and limber with a glow all your own. Try using a yoga strap Using straps can really help you get into those tougher poses that require the flexibility that you just don't have yet. The yoga strap will allow you to put the resistance where you need it. For example, you can use straps to connect one arm to the other, extend your reach from your feet, and many other tricks. Yoga Bolsters for back support Bolsters are firm long and narrow pillows normally filled with a dense cotton and designed specifically to help support you tummy and back during your yoga practice. Bolsters can really come in handy for poses that require a lot of core strength. Another great use for them is to put them under your knees for support as you rest  Select the right mat  Selecting a mat can be overwhelming. They come in thin, thick, cotton, short, long, and wide. For starters I'd recommend getting a skidless thick and long yoga mat. This will provide the comfort and stability for getting the hang of the traditional poses you'll learn right away. Yoga BlocksYoga blocks come in all shapes and sizes, and are mostly used to modify a pose or to provide support for your hands and feet for those poses where you can't quite stretch to the extent you want. Blocks can bring the stretch destination closer to you until you reach your flexibility goals. These are just a few of the yoga props you can use when starting out, and can even serve you in your yoga practice over the years to come. Just remember that yoga is a very personal exercise, you set your own limits, and you set your own boundaries. You will only improve at the rate to which you push yourself.Find more helpful posts on the yoga-glow blog, such as 5 yoga tips for pregnant woman

The Nepalese Government and Tibet Autonomous Region of China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aims to attract one million including 100,000 Chinese tourists to the country. This is important to boost tourism ahead of Nepal Tourism Year 2011

The MoU was signed in Tibet's capital Lhasa at the end of a two-day, fourth meeting of Nepal-Tibet (China) Joint Tourism Coordination Committee meeting, according to Nepal Tourism Board.

The MoU provides for the operation of buses between Nepal and Tibet, allowing regular Nepali helicopter and charter services in the sacred Mansarovar area, promoting Nepal Tourism Year 2011 in Tibet through media and hoarding boards at major crossroads, and providing Tibet visa to international tourists from Nepal and operating more Chinese airlines in between Lhasa-Kathmandu, among others. The next round of meeting between the top tourism officials from the two sides would be held in November 2011 in Kathmandu.
